I did think of a grape vine. But the crows would go mad. They currently eat hundreds of passionfruit and leave the empty shells all over the neighbours yard.

bouganvillea are a bit too woody and pricky for this purpose, but the snakes sound interesting. I am not too sure if they would be happy in the heat.

Same for the egret. What an interesting idea. Mr M would probably give it ho ho tho.

Currently I am think of something like this...
