Ok. The last passionfruit plant is about to die because it has made a big root and blocked up it's drain hole. (The other one died last year)

What should I replace them with?

Cloo = 2 large pots under see pic of when passionfruit first put in. Summer afternoon sun is very harsh here. i was hoping that the passionfruit would make it through summer, but it is not to be.

How is a yucca or aloe (i have lots of aloe and agave out the back) going to climb all over those white things and keep the house cool?

That white thing on the left. Not the very left, the other left. The high one is where my office is and I am sitting there right now. The one on the right is the spare bedroom where you can stay when you come over to visit.

A large yellow-billed spiny egret. It can live there in that pot, perhaps happily so but I'm no egret psychologist so I can't be certain about its mental and emotional state much less my own - how is yours? - jumping up occasionally onto either the white thing on the left (but not the one on the very left, just the other one on the left, or else the one on the right, but definitely not the one on the very right since there isn't one there or maybe it's at the neighbor's place, but only if you train it very well by giving it positive encouragement backed by delicious little treats for good behaviour like with an occasional Fig Newton). I don't know if it would make your house cool but it would certainly make your house cool and I might even pay money to see it.
