I appear to have driven three of these treads into the ground today. I apologize for being too obscure for everyone today.

The answer is: El Chaltén, Argentina

The two mountains are on the left Cerro Torre and on the right Mt. Fitz Roy, named after the captain of The Beagle. Both of these mountains are not very high, but the sheer granite faces, the ice on Cerro Torre, and the weather all combine to make them technically very difficult to climb.

poohbear_nc was the closest with Tierra Del Fuego, so it's your turn.

Just highjacking the thread for a moment to say that Captain Fitzroy was the Governor of New Zealand during the 1840s. He has a harbour (and a computer) named after him here. /highjack
