Further clue. The uncle was Robert Cecil (better known as Lord Salisbury). He appointed his nephew to the post of Chief Secretary for Ireland in 1887. This act of perceived nepotism kick-started his nephew's political career, ending with him becoming Prime Minister himself in 1902.

Who was that nephew?
