@favero_: That would be a yes on both counts (i.e., follow the exact post you've quoted, except for the first bullet point, which doesn't apply in your case).

Nuts. After a One-Click (MacOS, just KOReader) installation, and the Terminal logging it as successful, KOReader won't launch.
I get a crash screen with a data traceback, then a quick succession of four more attempts by KOReader to launch (each crashing) before the Libra reboots into the home screen. Reading the micro text of KOReader's crash screen before it embarks on another relaunch is problematic so I'll just ask: Anyone else having difficulty with KOReader crashing on the Libra? Hi NiLuJe,
Great work! I used the Plato-0.7.7_KOReader-v2019.10.zip package with a Kobo Libra H2O (fw v4.17.13694 9/19/19) and it installed just fine. Thw Linux install script kfm_nix_install.zip worked flawlessly on a LMDE3 64-bit system. The previous version didn't install properly and didn't work - the device was not recognized as a supported device. Manual cleanup, basically manual file removal (via PC) was enough to restore the initial look and functionality. The software above was installed without having to do anything else in terms of cleanup after that. Both KOReader and Plato appear to be working but I didn't test very thoroughly yet. The KOReader does a better job rendering some epubs which were not properly reflowed by the original (Kobo) software and were clipped at the end of some rows. |

The catalog got full of non-book elements after installation
Hello, thanks for your awesome work ! I suppose it'd been a lot of invested time...
![]() I have a Kobo glo HD with the latest firmware (Oct. 2019), and just installed your 'KOReader AND Plato' pack. The thing is that a lot of non-book elements like images and other files just appeared on the catalog. Why did it happen and how can I fix that ? There are thousands of that... I see that there is a Calibre plugin for kobo that allows somehow, to manage the kobo library. I don't know if this could help me fixing the library. Thanks in advance, Roger |

(Which will link to a few posts in this very threads over the last few weeks ![]() If you *just* installed it, that means you did that manually without reading the instructions 'til the end :/. |

pbchess gets deactivated when I install KOReader AND Plato
Hello,
I have a kobo glo hd, ... with a factory resetted, clean install, latest version 4.18.13737 9/30/19 If I install first pbchess , it works ok. But after installing KOReader AND Plato, pbchess does nothing apart from showing its icon when I click on it. If I install first KOReader AND Plato, it works, but if then I install pbchess, KOReader AND Plato stops working So it seems they're mutually exclusive. How can I install them all ? Also, installing kmsm from here does nothing (tried to be able to achieve it all by some other way): https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=293804 Is something changed with the latest kobo update that interferes with the installation processes ? It's driving me nuts ![]() Thanks ! |

@rogerty: No, pbchess uses a dedicated launcher (fmon), and KSM *is* a dedicated launcher.
To avoid wreaking havoc on unsuspecting users doing exactly what you did, launchers are mutually exclusive. That is absolutely not news, so, not related to recent updates ![]() Between fmon and KFMon, the latest one installed will take (which explains what you've been observing), while KSM will shortcut everything. You could probably create a KFMon config file to launch pbchess & co, but that'll take a bit of effort since it bundles fmon, and it may be using/launching it in a number of unexpected ways. I personally have no interest in doing something like that. KSM might be able to handle the mess on its own, but I have no experience with KSM, so you'll have to go ask in KSM's thread (which I've now seen you did, ![]() Last edited by NiLuJe; 10-24-2019 at 11:58 AM. |

After installing KoReader via the one-click package, I lost the "O" in the german keyboard layout in Nickel. If I tapp it, it just shows an empty space. Fw 4.18.13737 on a Libra H2O.
I tried a factory reset and got my "O" back. After installing KR the "O" disappeared again. ![]() A w rld with ut an "" seems like a l t f fun, but ... I want it back, as s n as p ssible. ;-) |

@trekk: Are you by any chance installing any patches at the same time?
Because KOReader/Plato have zero interaction with Nickel, and KFMon only does so as a byproduct of lower level system stuff, none of them UI/graphics related. So, it technically doesn't make any sense. That said, does it happen on a fresh boot, or only after exiting KOReader/Plato? Does it happen in other orientations? Do you have anything funky enabled in your Kobo config file? (I've certainly never seen anything like it, except with broken keyboard patching). EDIT: I'd ask you if it happens with other locales, but since I can't reproduce it either after switching my H2O to German, I somehow doubt that. Last edited by NiLuJe; 10-24-2019 at 01:04 PM. |
