I'll have to get back to you on this one... a made a dreaded trip to the library to pick up The Monstrumologist for my daughter based on someone's post here and I ended up picking up a few paper books there. I found 'Distant Thunders by Taylor Anderson. The 4th book in The Destroyermen series. It's good if you like the 'something military from Earth goes somewhere/somewhen else' type of stories. A WWII destroyer in this case. Also found the 2nd book by Ari Marmell on the New section. It looked good so I went back and found the first book... The Conqueror's Shadow. Supposed to be darkish fantasy. We'll see. | |

I finished Flaming Dove - great story but the writing wasn't so great. I've just started Dust by Arthur Slade.

Tomorrow is Do Nothing But Read Day and I've got a full plate. Working on finishing T.A. Pratt's Blood Engines, have a copy of Consider Phlebas as a $0.99 offer from B&N , a couple Diana Wynne Jones Chrestomanci books and a book of short stories by Tim Pratt, Little Gods.

Thanks Jack. I have finished now, and wholeheartedly agree. More like 4 novellas than short-stories, and each one excellent. King's writing improves with every book.

Just started Field Gray by Philip Kerr. It's historical crime noir -- former Berlin detective Bernie Gunther has to come clean about his role in WWII, and the story switches between the 1940s and 1950s. I like it so far. Luckily it's better than his last one.
