I've just finished The Found by ... Genaro Zamora ! I really liked it, it was fast-paced and there was just enough suspense for me (watching Scary Movie gives me nightmares ).

I also needed a break from all the fantasy books I've been reading.

I'll resume reading Fingersmith tonight.

not bad - but not as good as the "world without ends" or "pillars of earth"
and $20 for an e-book was a lot of money.
maybe it will get better. right now i am on page 203 from 786

I'm continuing through "The Evolution of God" and it's actually getting much more interesting in part II - The Emergence of Abrahamic Monotheism where it is talking about the shifts and changes among beliefs/gods and combining of gods paralleled with combining(conquering) of societies. Also the "archeology" of the bible .... fascinating...

Did anyone read the book "Lucy - a Novel" and if so - what do you think about that?

For me it started ok, the middle was very good, but the end seems to be extremely poor, so, as if the author did not know, how to end it and ruined it in the end.

One recommendation I've made to people attempting Joyce: if it seems difficult, try reading it aloud. Joyce's primary sense seems to have been hearing, and he was in part trying to reproduce what he heard on his legendary walks through Dublin.

Reading aloud will produce a fuller sense of the rhythm and cadence, a better feel for what Joyce was hearing, and a better appreciation of the prose.

Goodreads has it wrong. It's not a novel, it's a short story. Smith worked in shorter lengths, as well as writing fiction and creating sculpture.

He's notable for his language, which reminds me of intricately carved bas reliefs.

But not available on Kindle or iTunes, as far as I can tell. Blackcat, where did you find Hyperion as an eBook, because I can't find any of that series. Some of Simmons' other books are eBooks now.

I encountered it quite by accident on TV, and was happy I did. Nice bits of the author following Montgomery around to learn his speech patterns, mannerisms, and movement, to better play him, and later touring North Africa, meeting with officers who knew Montgomery personally, and fooling them.

I wanted to add that there's supposedly a film version in development for MacIntyre's other book Agent Zigzag, based on the Eddie Chapman tale. Good stuff. Gimme a con man and an espionage mission in a compelling historical setting and I'm hooked.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Thanks for the heads up.
