W1060 / A81 some updates
- i have been playing with my W1060 recently, i have up to date firmware and GPS built in GPS wise - modified Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.20 for WindowsMobile somehow works (detects it as serial GPS at COM5, no need to set baudrate, have not used portsplitter) - unstable, keeps crashing with errors, will work on it later.... - Nav N Go iGO 8.3.4.102680 will detect GPS as well and seems to be more stable than Garmin, probably will end up using that....again, without portsplitter - Beeline GPS is good software which works without crashing, not really for navigation, but to use GPS features and make sure you are getting good signal etc.. USB OTG wise - provided adapter enables connecting either keyboard or mouse, no problem - when connected to externally powered USB hub, i was able to connect both keyboard, mouse and even third USB device which needed extra drivers and WinCE asked for them... I am bit unclear about what COM1 and COM3 are, it shows UART, maybe Kathy could clear that up a little? I have not been able to use Bluetooth for anything yet, i tried to connect external Bluetooth GPS module and use it with garmin/igo, authentication in bluetooth device manager shows ok, but it does not appear like another COM port and none GPS softwares will find it.... |

I'm starting to look more to the W1070 and the W1080. More powerful processor and more ram. Actually one of them you can actually upgrade the ram to 2gbs. Both of these are more expensive, but thats only because of the intel chipset they use AND!! the SSD (Solide state drive) that are installed. Also, they actually have USB ports vice the OTG. |

WireLession will be carrying the W1090 this month. They are sending me a review unit by the end of the month and I'll fill everyone in on it then.
I'm also reviewing the W1150 (5" MID with Android). Both should arrive around the same time. P.S. SmartV7 review is done, just haven't had a chance to post it yet due to other work-related delivery responsibilities. ![]() Regards, |

That looks like a very nice device. Given that all they had up on their site is a render & a few specs, I wasn't expecting that one for at least 6 months.

I am looking forward on your review for this W1090 look like it's a very good unit. Are they send you with the built-in GPS so that you can include that on your coming review. I know, every body likes to know about the compatibility of the built-in GPS. |

@Kathy,
Thanks for the update! Also, I notice a firmware for the Q7 that over clocks its CPU to 800MHZ!! Is it possible that Witstech is doing a similar firmware? Thanks |

Hi,
Question about WinCE. I'm from Russia and of course would like to read/write Russian blogs and etc. I used to have WinMobile 2003 SE device and there I just installed russian keyboard to support typing and everything worked fine, is in WinCE the same situation? Regards, Dmitry. |

Does anyone know if it was ever possible to flash WinCe onto the Q7/V7 (that is not doing dual boot but completely replacing the linux os on there with WinCe)?

I believe that somewhere on here you will find evidence that member Houndx has tried without luck to achieve this, in addition he has had no joy in automating the SD boot process so that it would chose WinCE by default.
