Missed that, obviously.

Or maybe I took the word 'gooseneck' too literally?

You choose.

But,

I don't really see any alternatives other than:

1. Cutting into the silicone ?
2. Finding a cover with a elastic mounting system that can handle the extra thickness with a built-in light ?
3. Modify the mounting system of the Octovo Solis
4. Take the silicone cover off when using the Octovo Solis.

These options are not exactly ideal, of course. The 4th opition isn't too bad, I guess, though.

Maybe you can find a light with a adjustable mounting system other than one which also has a gooseneck, but I couldn't find one. Maybe nooseneck lights wont hold together forever, but you can buy some really cheap once, so why care? I'm sure they'll work for a long time, anyway.

Good luck finding one that fits your needs

Edit:

Check this one out: (reading the comments of the product makes me think it wont work for you, though)

I'm not a fan of button cell battery powered devices. I prefer AA or AAA power. The Kandle used CR2032 power cells (button cells.)

Yup, I specified no gooseneck because I already have a MightyBright, and it wore out quickly. Actually, the Kandle does not fit my specifications because it has those circle batteries.

I might buy one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Clip-Re.../dp/B003HKRVAW

I like the mounting system and that the head is flat with an ellipse formed edge surrounding the light scources. This might help to hide the direct light sources from my view which can sometimes bother my eyes.

Except I'm not begging :P

I'd be willing to pay up to $40, if it is a really good light. That's almost 1/3 of the price of a Kindle. I wish that I could try out the Solis before I buy it, because there's a chance that it can fit with the silicone.

The CSR just said that the light is designed to fit a bare Kindle. However, many people use it with stickers, and complain that the clip is slightly too wide.

I'm probably going to end up buying this light if I have no other options. A bunch of people claim that it doesn't work, but a bunch of other people claim it's great, so I'm not too sure about it.. It meets all of my requirements except it has rechargeable batteries.

when someone wants something or is looking for something that they cannot find, it is often heard "to go begging for..." but don't get spun up over it, ok? ;o)

let us know how it works if you get it

I too have a Kandle but am not very happy with it. Size and looks-wise it's fine but I find that it doesn't illuminate the bottom one-third of the page adequatelyl. I'm now looking for a replacement.

FYI to the question previously regarding whether or not the Kindle covers drain the battery. I just bought my Kindle 3 with a Kindle cover w/Light. The battery was draining every other day and I hadn't even used the light once. I called Amazon and they immediately asked me to return the Lighted Cover and replaced it with a new one.
The battery is now holding a full charge. I haven't received the new Lighted Cover yet . . . but I don't even think I want it now. It will go back to Amazon and I'm opting now for a different cover and a light that has it's own power source.
Just passing this on for information.

I don't think so. I was comparing my two to see if a kindle cover would fit the sony, and the kindle is taller.

I am an avid bedtime reader. My husband bought me the same light so I could read in bed without disturbing him. I have several different reading lights and this is the best by far. Very sturdy with a firm clip. The battery life is decent, and it works well with rechargeable batteries too.

From what I hear around here, the Octovo Solis would be a good fit. UNFORTUNATELY, the protective skin on my Kindle adds 4mm thickness, so according to the CS Rep, it will not fit on my Kindle.

Anyone have recommendations?
When I read your post I was a bit concerned as I have a DecalGirl skin and plan to get an Octovo Solis light. I then realized that the "skin" you were talking about was actually a silicone case. I think - I hope - that the light will fit over just a skin. I checked with DecalGirl (live chat) but they do not have experience with this particular light. The person I spoke with said the skin is about 2-3mm thick.

Has anyone here tried this light with a skin so they can confirm whether or not the light will fit?
