Thanks! The early bird offer looks like a good deal - it works out at £120 for the reader in a cover.
OK, the screen is only 150dpi and it's not from E-Ink but from a different e-paper manufacturer, but for £120 for 8" it's worth a look. Especially as it'll be running Android, even if an older version (4.2). |

Sorry that their jokes don't meet with your approval, but it is really none of your business.

What's the difference between used-car salesman and Good e-reader's Indiegogo campaign?
A used-car salesman actually has something to sell you. |

>> You're trying to silence someone from expressing an opinion.
Actually I'm expressing an opinion. I didn't intend to stir up any bad feelings. I hadn't really paid attention to who said what. I saw people making jokes about the guy being a crook and I didn't feel like that belongs in a forum like this. So far he hasn't done anything very wrong in this situation. It was beginning to sound like a one sided flame war and my hope was to inject a little calmness. Obviously I didn't succeed. Barry |

In fact, that is an extraordinarily silly position, IMHO -- you're saying we can't suggest this is a scam until after they walk off with the money. You don't want to hear Good e-reader being "flamed" on, you don't have to listen to it. Or you can chip in on the other side, play Devil's Advocate. But I expect you to do better than "just because they were crooks before, doesn't mean they still are". Expressing your opinion is perfectly alright. But if your opinion is that others shouldn't be expressing their opinion, then you've moved beyond that... ![]() ![]() |

I wasn't suggesting anyone shouldn't express their opinion. I'm concerned with the way that opinion is being expressed. Saying someone is dishonest, if that's your opinion, isn't something I would object to. Making them the butt of silly jokes is demeaning and that's not the kind of thing I'm accustomed to in here.
This forum is generally pretty polite and mature even when there's disagreement. This thread looked like it might be moving away from that and I said so. I'm a pretty avid reader and ereaders and their technology fascinates me and this forum has been a good source of information and ideas. I'm also retired and is a fun way to spend my time. I want to encourage it to stay that way. I'm really amazed at the reaction to my post. I assumed that it would either be agreed with or ignored. I'm not sure why it's upset anyone although it obviously has. Barry |
