Katelyn HI: Thanks for the review. How would you compair the OB to the 1150
They are both backlite and the same price and you now have both of them. Would the 1150 being out much longer be a better unit to buy? I had the jbl for a day but sent it back because of no backlite. I have been useing the palm tungsten t3 as a ebook reader for a long time. I just dont seem to find any ebook readers worth buying over my t3 at this time. I really need that backlite. Thanks |

Yeah if it strips all formatting out of html and epub its a DEFINATE deal breaker for me...Why are the ebook makers having so much trouble making an updated ebookwise 1150. I mean I would be happy with the 1150 if it just took a big SD card vice smartmedia. There may be some but I haven't seen ANY readers with the markup and search features the 1150 has.

I am on the phone with Delstar now. The gentleman I spoke with said the update should be posted by morning at the very latest - they anticipate it will be posted today and he also made a video to help users that will be posted.
The upgrade should address the PDF and a text issue. My rotate button doesn't always work and it will address that as well. He also believes the upgrade will correct the formatting issues. He just checked a book he downloaded from Gutenberg and it had correcting formatting on his device for bold, underlining etc. He is interested in assisting in any way he can and asked for the link to this forum. I'm sending him a link so you should expect to see him here to help! ![]() |

Received Delstar Today- Excellent Return Policy-Reasonable Shipping Time
To begin- I have a Sony 500 that has been upgraded to support EPUB format. It does so very well. The Sony is the benchmark against which I will judge the Delstar Openbook on the features they say they support. I use Calibre to convert non-EPUB books.
I ordered the OPENBOOK from Walgreens late at night March 9th. I received it today, March 16th at noon EDT.I was charged shipping and state sales tax. I charged the order to one of my credit cards. The packing was good. It should protect it in shipping. There was a clear plastic screen protector over the screen. A green tab is pulled to remove the protector. I have NOT performed any tests sufficiently to comment on the features & faults. I was happy that the Walgreens invoice was very clear."This product can be returned at a store". Moreover the invoice has boilerplate that states "If the receipt lists no exceptions, you may follow our standard return policy which offers two simple methods for returning your product." The 2 methods listed are mail it back and take it to store. Elsewhere on the invoice it says you can return non-prescription products in original condition with receipt within 30 days of order date. SO I THINK THAT COVERS THE RETURN POLICY. 30 days after date ordered. GOOD! Unless they start to issue fixes, all the limitations folks are talking about are deal breakers for me. ALSO: I need to find out how it FEELS reading actual books. I understood that it didn't support any DRM formats [including library loans] before I ordered it. No problem there. Because the Delstar folks told another forum member about fixes today, I think it is not useful for me to comment on its ability to render books properly now. I plan to use the reader to read mostly EPUB format books. But I do expect it to handle PDF fomats at least as well as Sony. I do not care about features for rendering MP3, JPGs etc-I just care about how it handles ebooks. |

I wish all of the eBook Reader vendors were as approachable. I guess my question would be to make any reader a truly viable device for the growing ebook market it needs to support DRM. As much as most of us here hate it... we know it is a fact of life at this time. So, do you have any plans to implement support for any of the popular DRM schemes? Of course Adobe DRM over ePub files seems to be the most popular on most devices these days. BOb |
