Firmware Update What a 2.6 update should include....

As the hype over the much awaited 2.5 update gradually subsides, it is perhaps opportune to begin by asking what a 2.6 update needs to incorporate.

For me, priorities are:

(1) Better internal navigation within a PDF file (i.e. inclusion of PDF bookmarks as per the Sony 505);
(2) Inclusion of other formats (HTML, CHM, etc.)
(3) More stable browser (for use with offline docs)

What do you think guys?

We CAN make bookmarks within pdf documents now....

What I want is the ability to name book marks, and ANNOTATE these damn PDF's....
I'd also like in the next update a choice of fonts without the hack, same goes for the screensaver hack.

Sub-Collections, better pdf support for 6" kindles and a better way of rolling out the release. The 2.5 roll out SUCKS!

Hang on a sec, Anarel ... I'm not sure that the Kindle can read internal PDF bookmarks. This is quite apart from the fact that we can CREATE bookmarks. Of course, I'd be happy to be contradicted on this. Ideally, what I'd like is something analogous to the PDF bookmark functionality of the Sony 505.

The Kindle can create bookmarks in PDF files, that is just simply mark a page. PDF's can have bookmarks built into the file as well, basically a central table of contents. The Kindle can't use those internal bookmarks, though I greatly hope that will be added in the next update, or at least someone develops a better PDF reader with the Kindle Development Kit.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2.5 is the last big update before they come out with some new devices.

The ability to change the sleepsaver setting - so I can put a book down and do something and not have to waken it up again after 10 minutes. And a better way for Amazon to provide the update - dont do it wirelessly to the chosen ones, over a month and create the angst amongst the haves and the have nots.
