Drm reader

Do any of the readers available now or upcoming support drm? I have a bunch of books in epub drm that I'd like to read on my je-100 but stripping the drm is way over my head. Is there any type of program that will allow me to read drm books on a color ereader?

Almost all EInk Readers (except the Kindles) support Adobe DRM for ePub and PDF. See the "Supported DRM Formats" row of the E-book Reader Matrix.

Since I posted in this forum I assumed everyone would know that I meant color (lcd) ereaders.

The only current mobile Adobe Digital Editions port for a color LCD device is from txtr, see Txtr iPhone app - Adobe DRM, over the air downloads, and more.

There is supposed to be one soon from HTC for some of its phones, see HTC Touch Phones to get Adobe Digital Editions.

Adobe is locking down mobile ADE by contracting with manufacturers, one device at a time. It has desktop versions for Windows and Mac, so a Windows tablet would work (but would also be expensive).

It is certainly possible that someone like Astak could include mobile Adobe Digital Editions on a WinCE or Linux based color handheld tablet, but it has not happened yet.

Many old (and some new) WinCE devices support MobiPocket Reader and/or eReader Reader, see DRAFT - A Beginner's Guide to WinCE Ebook Reader Software.

Also, the iPad release is right around the corner.

edit: To be clear. The iPad will support Apple's store/drm, whatever that is and should also support Amazon's store/drm and B&N's store/drm through the existing iPhone apps for those.

There's some question as to whether or not Apple is going to allow other reader apps on the ipad. Plus I think the ipad form factor is gonna be too big for me. As I'm doing more & more research & reading I think the best thing to do is to buy a slate type pc in an 7 or 8 in. size and since it's straight xp or win7 I can just load all the different readers on it & not have to worry about what format the ebook is. Well, that's my plan this week.

Consider the T91MT. Me and several others are using it. It's a tablet rather than a slate, but, at 9", it's barely bigger than a 7" slate.

I looked at that but right now I'm leaning toward an older fujitsu stylistics line of tablet. They're bigger (10-12in.) but it'll hold me over till the hp slate becomes available. That looks to be my holy grail right now. I can get a fujitsu for around $200 once I configure it and since it's windows I can do a lot of tinkering with it while I'm waiting on hp.

I also looked at the skytone a700 and I'm wondering if wince can be installed on it? It's got a mips processor. I emailed Eletroworld but haven't heard back from them. Actually, I think I'll start a new thread about this.

MIPS? Don't bother. Even if you can get WinCE installed on it, you'll find out that most WinCE software isn't available for MIPS.

Anything that runs windows will work. A web tablet might be ok for you. For example the Archos 9 referenced in our wiki.
