Angry LIT vs EBO in MS Reader?

Hello everyone,

I have been reading posts for a while now and using them to help convert ebooks onto my Sony Reader. Everything was working out quite well until yesterday.....

I downloaded some books from Fictionwise as usual, in MS Reader format. When I tried to use the LitConverter it could not find the files as .LIT in my directory. The icon is different from the usual .LIT icon, so I have worked out that they are .EBO files which are read in MS Reader. I can see them when I check through the folders, but LitConverter cannot.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can load these onto my reader? I did try looking through the site to see whether anyone else had already asked this question, but couldn't find anything. I'm hoping it is just something simple that I should have been able to work out myself.

Thanks

Shanwaa

I looked it up, and I think that EBO is not an ebook file; it is some type of configuration file created by a copy of MSReader. Do you have MSReader, and was it open at the time?

If you don't, then it is very likely that Fictionwise put up the wrong file. Email them and complain.

Thanks for the link. I read it but unfortunately it didn't help. MS Reader did open at download, and all pages were copied and displayed in the PC MS Reader, but I do not end up with a recognisable .LIT file to convert and copy onto the portable reader.

I contacted Fictionwise as you suggested though, and am waiting for a reply.

Thanks

Somehow I have got it working again. It was either changing the settings to prompt me to download the book, or Fictionwise fixed it. I haven't received a reply from them yet though, so not exactly sure what has happened.

Thanks Nate the Great as obviously something worked!

I ran into the same problem yesterday. The .ebo file is in a separate file labeled "annotations" with the corresponding book in .lrf format in a completely different file. I was assuming that maybe it is footnotes that "go with" the corresponding book but I can't seem to load the .ebo file onto calibre to even begin how to figure out how to put it on my reader with the sister book to "use" these supposed annotations. Maybe I am thinking about this in the wrong way. I emailed the place I acquired the files from so hopefully I will get an answer soon. I'll post if/when I do.
