Question on charging reader that has not been used for four months.

Sad I know, but I got very busy and have not used my reader for four months.

Of course the battery is drained. So I plug it in and the red led show that it is charging, but when I slide the button on, the screen is blank.

Should I let it charge for a while? It does not even show as a storage device on the computer.

I'm sure it will be OK, but boy-oh-boy is that a gut wrenching experience when it doesn't power up? Let it charge for a long long time and MAYBE it will take. Otherwise, get a wall outlet charger (most like the price of the PSP charger) and let it charge completely before turning it on. Good Luck!

Also, the red light means it is charging, but the light turns amber when it is charged.

I use a charger plugged into the house power rather than trying to charge it via the USB cable. Since I have both a Sony Reader and a Kindle, several times I've let the Sony sit idle for long enough to thoroughly drain the battery. It's fine after an hour or two on the power charger.

Yes, when I first bought my reader the battery was completely flat. I couldn't turn it on and it didn't register when connected to my computer. I panicked a bit, thinking I might have been sold a faulty item, but after a couple of hours charging it was fine. It took a while to completely charge but didn't appear to be affected by the experience.

Yeah! now it is showing USB charging and showing as a storage devise on my computer with its memory intact. Yeah, I guess I will invest in a PSP charger because it good to have a handy charger.

I am really glad I got a PSP charger. Not only quicker, I can also read while the reader's charging if I need to.

I should try not to let this happen, because in the long term allowing a Lithium Ion battery to fully discharge isn't good for it and will shorten its overall working life.
