Kobo Remote Sold Out in Canada
This morning I tried to order two Kobo Remotes, one for myself and one for my husband, and they were sold out! So disappointing. I think this is only one or two days after the remote device first became available. Kobo's message is that a limited number will become available later this month. Interesting how desirable something becomes when you can't get it!

USA here, but it's sold out in white from the Kobo site. I went over yesterday, hoping to grab a link for adding to my Christmas list.

Although my Sage is black, I really DON'T want a black remote. I want something I can easily SEE, so I won't lose it!

I'm not devastated. I can wait until it's available again, or get it for myself at a later date. It would be nice for reading while keeping hands under the covers as it gets colder though!

Yes, white will be my choice, too, when they become available. I was pleased to see they take a triple A battery and don't need to be constantly recharged by USB, a little chore than can keep a person busy these days.

The remote release was a bit of a poop show. I woke up way early for work and saw it could be ordered but only for delivery & I really wanted it yesterday. LOL Indigo online had 0 in stock across the board for delivery, ship to store or in store. Around 5pm est you could order ship to store for December 17 so I grabbed a white one there. Then early evening they magically appeared in stores. All of the ones near me had only 1 white each and 2 or 3 blacks. So I ran to the store to grab the white one & cancelled the online order. They went FAST!!

I was following some of those reddit threads, and I'm surprised nobody pointed out the immediate popularity of kobo-btpt.

I'm curious as to whether kobo came up with the idea for the remote independently (possibly based on the existence of tiktok scrollers), if they responded to direct requests from people, or if they noticed the mod.

Alternatives for the Kobo remote? Most people wanted something that they could use with their Bluetooth enabled Kobo ereader without having to jump through multiple hoops. As for the "proper" Kobo BW device, last time I looked the majority of their ereader lineup was BW. Or are only 7" diagonal screen devices proper?

I don't argue that the kobo remote can be useful for some, but is it more important to have than a Libra BW or updated Sage? Yeah, that's the proper device, not the 10000th type of Clara. I mean, the Clara has like a ton of iterations, and still, kobo is turning towards only to the cheapest stuff.

Most people want to read ebooks and do it on a phone or tablet.

More people want a B&W 7″ than a remote. The Kobo remote is x2 overpriced anyway.
