External access with content server

I have read all of the forum topics and did general Google searches/YouTube videos on the topic of accessing the Calibre server from outside of LAN and have found no useful information to make my server show up outside of my local network. I have done the port forwarding and changed port numbers. I have local access but nothing from outside of my network. I am curious, has anyone actually made this work?

Try using a different port number--I use 9095--if using windows double check that you have Network Discovery turned on.

I have no trouble using my external IP address:

Code:
173.3xx.xxx.xxx:9095

I tried changing ports with no success. My Plex server works fine externally.

Check to make sure the PC running Calibre hasn't changed it's IP address since you configured the Port Forwarding in your router. I use fixed addressing on my PC to prevent it changing.

To recap: all you need to do is...
1. Add Port Forwarding in the router to point to the IP address of the PC running Calibre.
2. Make sure Calibre is using the same Port Number.
3. Enable the server under Calibre Preferences, and restart.
