Never ending Check Book on one computer

Desktop computer ; Windows 10, Calibre 8.4 64

From my main computer, desktop, suddenly, once again the Check book function never ended ( after several hours I stopped the process from Tasks Manager)

I first thought it was a problem with the book, but it happened on other books too.

So I opened same book from Calibre Editor on my laptop which still runs Calibre 8.3 ( Windows 10), and ran the Check book function.
After several seconds the result was there displaying errors.

On Desktop, I ran install Calibre 8.4 with Repair option, but the Check book behavior still the same after it

Please, may anyone tell me how to fix my Calibre 8.4 behaviour ?

( I would like to avoid uninstalling fully Calibre and reinstall after, because I have many search-replace regular expression recorded and I don't know how to export them globally. )

dont worry, uninstalling will not affect your books/settings/plugins.

I thought I had solved my problem without uninstall - reinstall

I just deleted the content of the folder
C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\calibre-cache
and after Check book process worked perfectly with results displayed fast.

But unfortunately, after first modification inside css.... the next check happened to never last ... onceagain

That says that Calibre is having trouble cleaning up after a session.
There are instructions on how to use a environment variable to put the cache in a different location.

Just curious: What security suite are yo using?
Because I am running W10pro with Defender
Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.19045.5965]
and have no issues

QT can have some problems with older Windows 10.

I use Defender too.
I'll keep on checking some books next days, and according to Calibre behaviour, I will maybe uninstall Calibre and install it again.
But it seems to me more and more that problem is not into
C:\Program Files
but inside C:\users\MyUserName\AppData
In that case, uninstalling and reinstalling wouldn't change anything.

Something is messing with %appdata%\Local\calibre-cache

By any chance is this being backed up by onedrive (or other brand)

Try relocating the Cache via the CALIBRE_CACHE_DIRECTORY Environment variable to somewhere out of the way of everything else.

Example:

As you can see I also relocate calibre's Configuration and Temp folders.
