Metadata of epub book with calibre
Hello,
I created my e-book library in e-pub format in Calibre. I edited the metadata of my books to harmonize the names of the authors and the exacts names of the series. Then I retrieved all the ePub files from the Calibre Library folder on my PC and copy them to my Android smartphone so I could read my books with the application Moon+Reader. But ... books are well added to the library of this application but with the old data's of authors and series names ... I can't find what I had corrected in Calibre! And the titles of the books are also not the one I corrected. So I have all the old metadatas wich I had before the updates in Calibre on my PC ! Would you know why? Thank you for your help and advice. |

That's because unless you used the Save to Disk feature, the changed metadata was not embedded in the files themselves; it existed only in the calibre database. You can use Polish Books to embed the metadata in the files.

It's best (IMHO) to use Modify ePub to update the metadata of ePub.

Ok thanks for your answers. Can I make a disk saving of the entire library in Calibre in one go ? Or do I have to save the epub files one by one?
What is "Modify ePub"? it's a specific application or software on PC |

If you mean you want to backup your library, use FreeFileSync to do so. After the first time you sync the entire library, it will only sync what's changed/new. Also sync the settings directory. |

You can save the entire library, but you don't need to do that; Polish Books or Modify Epub will embed the metadata as well.

Right click on a book/books in the library and then on Save to Disk to get it's options.

Why would anyone want to look for a third-party plugin, install it, and figure how to use it when they can get what they want from the baseline product at the press of single keystroke!

Strictly speaking, ticking/unticking the Box is not a single keystroke.
![]() I'm clicking on embed metadata. |
