Is it possible to specify a different location for matadata.db?
Is it possible to specify a different location for metadata.db, other than the root folder of the library?

Think I've found the answer to my question. It looks to be possible with environment variables.

For a laptops with both SDD/NVMe and HDD, if your library is large and cannot fit into SDD, putting the metadata.db alone on SDD can provide a performance boost.

It's now on an internal 4TB SATA 3.3 drive. If I start calibre on that library (now over 150K 'books') its ready in under 5 secs - which is 1-2 secs longer than opening the default library with one book, one format, and no custom columns. BR |

My whole Library is on the Spinning Rust part (a mounted volume on C: (the SSD) . Just Use the Create/Switch: Move the current library to new location that is a choice on the Library Icon.
AFAIK the DB is kept in RAM while using, so other than transfer rate on load, there is no speed to be gained. RAM... Lots of fast RAM ... is the way to go ![]() ![]() When I decided to check on drive usage ![]() The System had never been configured for the HD... At all. It was there, spinning, but had not even been enabled in the BIOS. I guessed on how to set up a hybrid as I could not quickly find a 'proper' configuration tutorial |
