Troubleshooting Sideloaded Books to new Scribe (2024) via Calibre Dont Sync cover art thumbnails

When sideloaded books to new Scribe (2024) via Calibre, the Scribe won't Sync cover art thumbnails.
Computer no longer recognize the Scribe as external drive, however Calibre will recognise it as Kindle Scribe.

Apparently, Calibre is unable to create amazon-cover-bug directory, including driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre files as in Scribe 2022.

Anybody have idea how to fix it?

If you are sending KFX files, you can set the cdetype to PDOC. One acquaintance is currently using a Python3 utility to set the cdetype to PDOC for his ebooks. Not sure if their method of placing the .py file on his Kindle PW4 in the /documents/eBooks and executing it after sending books to their Kindle from calibre is the best choice but it does seem to work for them. See ebook_cdetype_to_pdoc on GitHub. Python version used is 3.13.1.

Edit: Forgot to mention that they keeps the book files in a single directory. If you use a directory structure, you would need to modify the python file to browse the subdirectory looking for books.

To add to DNSB's comment on PDOC tags... if you install the KFX Output plugin on Calibre, you can modify the output cdetype to PDOC instead of EBOK: Calibre Preferences > Output Options > KFX Output > "Create personal document".

This is of course, only works on newly converted KFX ebooks.

So it seems Amazon is restricting access to the “system” folder via MTP on the new Scribe, just as they did with the Colorsoft.
