Can't save highlights on new Libra 2

I haven't been able to find anyone else reporting this issue recently. I just got a Kobo Libra 2 and set things up to sync with Calibre/Calibre-Web. I'm unable to save highlights and notes. I can go through the steps of creating them, and it doesn't show any errors, but the highlighting doesn't display on the screen and the list of highlights/notes remains empty.

I did a factory reset then downloaded a book from Overdrive and was able to create a highlight and note in it. When I tried a book from Calibre-Web again, it still wouldn't save the highlight.

My books are epub, created in Calibre and synced via Calibre-Web (converting to kepub). What am I missing that is causing this problem?

Can anyone offer any thoughts, or at least confirm that they ARE able to save highlights to personal (non-DRM) epub books on their Kobo device? I'm going to return mine if I can't get this resolved because highlighting and notes are a must-have for me.

You can save the highlight and export it to the "Exported Annotation" folder in Kobo directory. In order to do that your need to change or add lines to Kobo Configuration files as below:

[FeatureSettings]
ExportHighlights=true

Thank you very much for the response. I was under the impression that setting simply allows for saved highlights to be exported, but I can't even save the highlights to begin with, so there's nothing to export. That said, I'll try enabling that and see if it also gives me the ability to save.

I can't help but wonder if something has gone wrong with your conversion from ePub to kepub.

Additionally, could you install the Kobo Utilities plugin in calibre, attach the Kobo to calibre (NOT calibre web) and ensure that the Kobo database is not corrupted.
