How is the external SSD formatted? FAT32? ext3 or ext4? ExFAT? Other format? If FAT32, remember that the maximum file size on a FAT32 volume is 4GiB (4,294,967,296 bytes).

I don't use the library Export feature for backup, but if I did, and assuming it's possible, I would exclude the full-text-search.db file. It can be rebuilt easy enough if you have to do a restore.

Are you saying your metadata.db file is 100GB? If so how on earth did that happen?

That doesnt matter, the export writes individuals files at a time separately (well grouped in upto 1GB sized blocks). So as long as no individual file is not too large it no single file will be too large. So that error actually means something else. Make sure your ssd has a decent filesystem like ext4.

Have you run Library Maintenance on those libraries. That clears out old deleted records from the db
