Full text search prevents transfer of DB from one HDD to another.

When I try to copy my database from one external drive to another, I get Error 0x80070021:

The process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file.
Full-text-search. Db
size: 28.1 GB
Try again Skip Cancel

The Full Text page says 41831 of 100988 book files
41% have been indexed.

However, the calibre main page shows [92850 books, 1 selected]

Perhaps copying, syncing and/or backing up files while calibre is not running might be a better idea?

Also possible if you have multiple formats, FTS is seeing each format as a separate book while calibre sees multiple formats as a single book?

After closing Calibre, sometimes the indexer may keep running until it's done the current book. I've noticed this mostly on big PDF files.

Just wait a bit if that;s the case.

Thank you both.

I completely closed down calibre until indexing was done and had no more problems. And yes, I do have multiple file types and large pdfs.

I had reverted to calibre v.4.something or other so as you may imagine I now I feel I am back to total rookie status.
