freeze 5 mns

Hi,
When i clic , import, view,... or any action on one of my epub , calibre freeze during 5mns and return without any error.
I found inside this epub a strange content.opf (or metadata.opf), after i deleted "description", all return ok
The discription it's also loading inside the database, so even if i remove the file and check the library, no error are decteted but the probleme alway exist

So why a corrupt description can hang calibre like this ?
PS : i use the last calibre 64bits version

Adding that metadata.opf to calibre does not cause any freezes on my system. It refers to various images on the internet, probably on your system your antivirus has a hissy fit when calibre tries to load the images, and blocks it for a while.

EDIT: Although IIRC images from the net are not loaded by QTetxEdit when displayed.

No, i have desactived my AV Avast, create un new library and add my corrupt (?) epub ... and ... freeze

epub does not freeze for me either. Without being able to reproduce I'm afraid I cant help.

If your library is on a mechanical HDD (not SSD), defrag the drive; most operating systems should do this automatically but it can get turned off. If it still continues, check the drive health.

Freezes can also happen when the library is on a flash drive or a network drive.

That URL is a bit of a mess since it appears to have been generated from a Google Belgium search for the book on FNAC. I'm wondering if the redirect it triggered when I opened the link in a browser is what is causing the freezing issue on your computer.

I would suggest removing the link to a copyrighted epub from message #5.

After the import, I got a series of blank images (likely all the 0px sized images) followed by some text in the book description. I would suggest editing the metadata and edit the HTML source for comments to:
