Library dependent toolbar
I do have a couple of libraries to store very specific type of books, containing completely different custom metadata, but it can be quite easy to forget to switch between these libraries, since there aren't many things at a glance that would immediately clue you to what library you have open, not unless you pay attention.
I run different plug-ins on different libraries to populate this metadata, they are configured specifically to interact with particular columns in a given library, and using them in the library where they haven't been configured properly just creates a mess of the database, but not necessarily in a way that would throw out any immediate errors. So making certain plug-ins not easily accessible for library a and just have them visible for library b would be extremely helpful, as not having an option to do things on auto-pilot would prevent having to redo it later. The easiest way to do this would be via customizing a toolbar to hide certain buttons, but to have it tied to the specific library in question, so that switching between them, would also switch the toolbar - kind of like some buttons are only visible when the device is connected. I'm not seeing any option to do that, so I was wondering if something like this may be possible. |

Look at this plugin and see if it does what you want.

Hmm, I don't think that plug works here? It can configure visibility of different columns in different views for a given library, but it doesn't configure the toolbar.

I don't use that PI, so it was just a try
![]() Each Library does remember the column states, but that does not affect the toolbarS. |

IIRC the Look & Feel->Column Colour/Icon settings operate on a per library basis, perhaps you could make use of one of them to differentiate - e.g. Blue for library A, Red for library B.

Several plugins have per-library settings, stored in the preferences table of metadata.db. But I don't think it applies to toolbar buttons.
Probably a bit extreme, but you could set up a different portable instance for each library. It might be a pain to copy books between them though, and other downsides. |

The color coding is an option I guess, to make it more visually distinct. I"m not sure I like it, it isn't easy to find different colors that are easily readable that wouldn't hurt to look at, especially with the computer switching between day and night theme. I guess it could do in a pinch...
Portable instance is a great idea, unfortunately I'm using a mac, so that's not an option - copying the app, even putting it on the usb drive, refuses to run a different instance. |

Perhaps set each library to use a different assortment of icons in the tag browser? If you find the right icons you can colour-code it that way. (FatCow's icons is a place to start.)

Hm, I guess that might be a possibility to try to make them a bit more visually distinct. I will 100% not pay attention to it or any colors for anything else when working on autopilot, but may be it would just enough to give a bit of a pause, occasionally. I guess it is what it is.
