Will this screen fault get worse

Please see the image link. Three short vertical black lines on an Onyx screen. I assume it's a screen controller fault. It's pretty insignificant, but do you think it will get worse, or will it stay like that?

Grrr. I think it will get worse.
OTOH, it looks like the often refreshing status bar clears it.
Does the position of the lines change?

I don't have it with me. The owner sent me some pics. I am puzzled because one of the images does not show the lines, while two others do show the exact same lines. I'm not sure what is causing the fault, if it is serious, or relatively trivial (i.e. won't get worse).
