Hacking advices

Hi, I recently decided to have a little fun jailbreaking and hacking a old kindle keyboard.
I know that the device has inside two small metal tips which if joined, can trigger a total and deep factory reset.

I was wondering: if I make hacking mistakes jailbreaking or if I want to restore completely the e-reader to it's pristine conditions, does this trick works?
Make me know your opinions and suggestions

Thanks
