Manage content and devices, etc.??
Does Kobo have a similar feature? If so, where/how can I find it? Also, is there a good user manual for the Aura One? I found one online but its directions don't match the actual steps in my device. I guess it is for an older version operating system. And last, can you get a pdf or something with your annotations and email it to yourself like you can with the Kindle? If so, how? I'm trying to see if switching over from Kindle is workable. Thanks for any and all input.

Email to Kindle doesn't really work properly (Send to Kindle), and no there isn't similar for Kobo, though you can add patches and use Dropbox on some. It's hard to beat the USB cable transfer. Also Send to Kindle has issues. Amazon process and store the file. Issues of privacy and security. They do not act simply as an email exchange.
You especially "Manage content and devices" with Amazon as they have dropped feature to download at purchase time. Do not rely on anyone's cloud library system. Amazon has dropped kinds of content in the past as has Microsoft. You also need that on Kindle because "managing" collections and content on the Kindle is a pain. Calibre is it the best tool to manage a Kobo and no Internet connection needed. Download at time of purchase. Make backups that don't rely on the internet. Kobo has more up to date manuals for some models on their site. |

I'm not looking for a 'send to Kindle' type thing. I'm looking for sending notes and highlights from my device to me in email so I can work with them or share them.

Kobo doesn't have such a feature. You can use Dropbox on some Kobo devices to download stuff wirelessly. I have no idea whether you can enable Dropbox on the Aura One, though.

If you don't like Calibre you can add a text entry in a config file (when connected to USB once) and then there is an extra item to export highlight & Annotation/bookmarks (and location) in the context menu for a title. The text file is created on the root just for that selected ebook and can be copied when ereader connected with USB. The Kindle sticks all annotations of all ebooks in one file and only syncs to other Kindles or Kindle apps and only ebooks from Amazon Website. |

See Calibre forum here and download the manual and install the program and appropriate plugins. The DeDRM is on the NoDRM GIT website, if you have a kindle and want to read ebooks bought from Amazon (Download for USB transfer only) on a not-Kindle and have backups.

If you want your ereader for the purpose of keeping the annotations and sharing them, then imho you can't beat a kindle paired with Kindlemate.

Inferior to Kobo + Calibre, which works on Mac, Windows and Linux.
I tried Kindlemate. |

I've never heard of Kindlemate until this moment. Research time.
