E-reader that doesn't make noise

I've had a Pocketbook Touch HD3 and now two libra 2's, and all those readers have made some weird noise when turning the page - probably coil whine. At night this is to me quite an inconvenience, so are there any e-readers known not to do this? Especially with the new kobo coming up, I'd like an e-reader that just doesn't have any issues, just works.

No idea about Pocketbook but the Kobos may have had page turn sound effects on. Uncheck it in your settings and the clicky noise goes away.

Have you ever seen or used a Kobo eInk ereader? Gentle hint, the only sounds are from audio books and those need a Bluetooth device to hear. I'm not going to consider one of the old Kobo Android tablets since they have very little in common with the eInk Kobo Libra 2 mentioned by the OP.

Kobo Readers do not have a setting for sound effects. They don't make any noise. The only sound you can hear on a Kobo is if you have a model with buttons and you use the buttons.

My Kobo Forma has just yesterday developed an annoying click on releasing one of the page turn buttons. It didn’t do it before. I hope it stops. The other button is fine.

Well, colour me totally embarrassed! When I last encountered page turn noises it was reading Kobo books on my tablet not the Libra. In my defense, yesterday's extreme temperatures had my brain partly fried, plus insufficient caffeine when I posted that mixed up nonsense. Just now double checked both tablet and my Kobo Libra settings and sure enough, it's the tablet which has the page turn effects. Apologies and hope you get a fix.

Extreme temperatures, heh. Here we already have central heating switched on, because it's really cold (less than 10° C at night, 12-13° during the day). That's unusually cold for the first week of September even here.

About a week ago we had 30°... Talk about extremes.

The OP must have amazing hearing. I've just taken my headphones off (listening to Mozart) and turned the pages of the Libra 2. If I do this with the buttons, there's just a slight button click, but if I turn the pages with a tap or swipe, silence. My cat's purr is louder than any click from the page turn buttons.

If you do a search for "coil" in the Kobo forum, you will see similar questions about noise with other Kobo models.

Put your Kobo directly to your ear (best with the underside). Now turn pages. Depending on the state of your hearing, you might hear a really slight electronic sound. This is by the way not limited to Kobo, this is just the way electronics work. Most people are not sensitive enough to hear it though, or too old to be able to hear it as this is usually at a really high frequency.

I had wondered.

Re:noise. I can ereaders make noise when they Perform electrical functions. I have good hearing, sadly. This particular noise does not bother me, but I hear it. FWIW I think Onyx are pretty quiet.

My Libra 2 makes no noise when used with the touch screen to turn the page.
