Text selection issues on new phone Z Fold3

When I touch and hold a word, sometimes it works after 2 seconds (5x slower than normal), the word is selected and the highlight dialog popups, but most frequently nothing happens at all even holding for 30 seconds
This problem persists whether the new phone is folded or unfolded
I've tried a dozen of different web browsers to no avail

It works fine on my backup phone and other websites/apps

since i dont have this hardware impossible for me to know what the probem is. If you are capable of doing it, set up developer tools to connect to that phone and see if any errors are printed to the console.

Dev tools console shows this:

Selecting with the mouse via dev tools works fine, also does the Bluetooth mouse, I just can't use touch and hold on the real phone surface

That's unrelated. The next step will be to debug the touch handling code running on the device. If you are interested in doing that I'll tell you more.

setup calibre development environmnet as decribed in manual: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/develop.html

then make changes to touch.pyj to debug what is going on. You can add some print(whatever) to the code and it will show up in the console. Look in BookTouchHandler and interpret_single_gesture

My current workaround is using firefox mobile instead. I tried Chrome, Safari and many other browsers on my Samsung devices, highlighting does not work reliably with any of them. Only firefox does!. But on the ios device, there is no issue at all. Still don't know why...
