Send to Kindle Service dropping mobi format support
Amazon has advised that its Send to Kindle server will no longer process mobi and azw files effective August 2022. I use this service to send news downloads to native Kindle wireless devices. The native Kindle OS has a special Periodical toolbar and heirarchical TOC view of the articles in a mobi news downoad which is very useful - but not available on a Kindle for epub format nor on any Kindle tablet versions for any file format. The Periodical Toolbar is attached for reference.
Is there an alternate to the Send To Kindle via Calibre 'sharing books by email' that would transmit mobi to a wireless Kindle device? Thanks. |

amazon controls email delivery not calibre. Your only choice is use the content server or usb cables.

OK understand. Is it correct that the content server has no facility to push a document via wifi to a kindle device? Thanks.

I would like to try what you described but don't know how it works, is there some sort of tutorial? Thanks.

In the first tab we see the address of our Library in Calibre. We have to be careful to check this box to start content server when starting Calibre. This works by being connected to the same Wi-Fi network. In the kindle experimental browser there you must put the address of the content server in this way: http://XXX.XXX.X.XX:8080/mobile Trying to have calibre files converted from mobi to download to Kindle |

Fantastic - so easy and the mobi download from the content server preserved the kindle periodical format. Do I have to rekey the network address every time I open the experimental browser, or could it be saved somehow like a bookmark? Thanks.

. Poke around on that initial browser screen, I think there was some sort of history or bookmark (I tried it ONCE, a long time ago , to see if it did work. My K4 stays in Airplane mode these days) |
