Calibre don't read Kobo Aura HD

Hi,

my Kobo Aura HD eReader no longer opens in Calibre. I have Calibre version 4.23. Tried reboots Calibre, device, nothing changes. I reactivated the Kobo plugin for Aura, nothing either. Calibre does not detect my device. And yet, I had no problem before. Can anyone help me find a solution? I'm afraid I won't be able to put books in my Kobo anymore.

Hello, I connected my reader directly to the computer (and not through a hub) and the computer recognized Kobo as well as Calibre.
Can someone tell me why the computer does not recognize Kobo when it goes through a hub?
When I send a book to Kobo, I get an error message that the software does not handle Kobo well.
«*caliber, version 4.23.0
WARNING: Failed: The database version of Kobo is not supported - See details

Your Kobo is running an updated firmware/database version. As caliber has no information about this firmware update, database editing has been disabled to avoid corruption. You can still upload books to your Kobo with calibre, but deleting books and managing collections are disabled. If you are willing to experiment and know how to factory reset your Kobo, you can undo this by right clicking on the device icon in caliber and selecting "Configure this device" and then the "Attempt to manage newer firmware" option. You may then need to factory reset your Kobo.
Device database version: 166.
Device firmware version: (4, 31, 19086)*»
Why?

Follow the advice in the error message. Open the configuration dialogue for the KoboTouch (builtin) and/or the KoboTouchExtended driver and check the attempt to support new firmware checkbox on the 3rd tab of the configuration.

When you connect the Kobo to the hub, it will try to charge. If the hub cannot supply the correct voltage and current then the Kobo will ignore the USB link hence it cannot be seen on the computer and therefore Calibre will not see it.

That is why it will work when connected directly and not when via the hub as the computer can supply the correct voltage and current.

If the hub has it's own power supply then it should work IF all the other devices connected to the hub haven't maxed out the power before the Kobo is added to the mix.

Hubs which take power from the computer are problematic when used with devices that try to charge themselves when connected to a USB link.
