Question about Kobo ereaders and USB ports
This query is for someone who used to have Kobo Glo HD and since updated to more current Kobo ereader and have used it for a while.
I have a USB port problem with Kobo Glo HD, its not soldiered right or just picky, I have to constantly switch USB cables and PC USB ports, have ereader in a certain position (below/above) USB cable for USB cable to connect to PC and/or charge ereader. I believe its a well known issue about Kobo Glo HD. I remember that for me and the Glo HD the issue wasn't evident immediately, it took about a half a year to a year of use for it to reveal itself. My question is about recent devices, did Kobo fix that USB port problem or do ALL Kobo ereaders still have problems with that? |

I haven't had a physical USB port problem with any of my Kobos, including the Glo HD.

No USB problems with my Formas or with a Sage I had for a short time.

I've never had a USB port problem between 3 Glos and 3 Glo HDs. And I only side-load books, so the USB port gets used quite often.

I had the issue with my Libra H2O at first, but it got better after a firmware update. No issues with either the Sage or the Libra 2 (I don't use the default USB cable, but a USB-C/USB-C cable I bought from Amazon, as my laptop only has USB-C ports).

I have heard of people damaging the USB port, but, not many. And it hasn't been an endemic problem. And most to years to happen. In any case, none of mine have been damaged.
I do have an issue with the Glo HD. It doesn't like my main laptop. It will connect, but, as soon as there is any load through it, it disconnects. But, it works perfectly with another laptop I have and my work desktop. I have no idea why it is like this, because it worked perfectly for a couple of years with this laptop. |

I have an Aura H2O for just over 6 years and I've never had a single USB port issue. I still have it and I also have a Libra 2 and again no USB port issues.

Have you excluded a cable problem by trying different known-working quality data cables?

I had a usb issue with my original Glo. After years of use, I had to fiddle about with the port to get a connection and it did feel like the port ended up broken. Frequent random disconnections from my computer, that sort of thing. My Forma was fine.
I assume the usb c on my Libra 2 will be better. Purely based on gut feeling that usb c feels better to me and there's no risk of breaking anything by putting the thing in upside down. Sent from my Mi 9T Pro using Tapatalk |

I have the Libra 2 and the USB-C cord is already fried so I contacted Kobo. They don’t have replacement cords. So I am off to the getting place and I now have a new USB-C cord. I also have the Kobo H20, Kobo Aura LE, and the original cords are going strong.
