» SO many page breaks

Good morning,
I've been running into problems with just one book. When trying to convert its .azw into .epub that worked like it always does, but this time it made a 350 pager into close to 2800 pages. I guess there's something wrong with interpreting line/ paragraph breaks into page breaks, but have no idea how to fix that, other than converting it into .txt first and removing all paragraphs manually.

When I was looking for a solution yesterday on my cell, I found a suggestion somewhere to change some parameter "from 0.5 to 0.015" or something, but for the life of me I can't find that text again - anyone knows of a way to play around with something like that in calibre? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the Convert screen, if you head down to "EPUB output" there is an option "Do not split on page breaks". Place a tick in the box

Also for "Split files larger than:" type in "0" which will change it to Disabled. This may cause problems though if the individual xhtml files are too large. Best check after the conversion.

Does that solve the issue?

No, but thanks for the input. I found a very easy way via Open Office, though, by setting the auto-correct option "merge single-row paragraphs" at about 30%. Had to convert into .txt and back, and it didn't look pretty in OO itself. But back in calibre and converted into an .epub it looks exactly as it should. So for now I'm hoping it was just weirdly formatted raw material.

In the Structure detection section of the conversion dialog change the detect chapters setting to just /

Your book probably uses class="chapter" on every paragraph.
