matching column title with the file's name
I've got dozens of books from a serie and each file name (ie each e-book) starts with a number. But the title in the metadata doesn't display the number ; so I'd like to replace this metadata with the file name and doing this by batch.

You have a Kobo: Are you using Send to device?
With Kobo's, disconnect after sending, wait until processed (on Kobo) is done, then connect again. When Calibres Job Wheel is done, Eject. The Kobo will now list series Note Messing with Metadata in Calibre can break other kinds of tasks. Series AND index belong in the Series column My Series [42] |

thank for your answer, the problem is that I'm not only using kobo (I'm not the only reader in the house !). Maybe I'll have to look for an other software for doing this. Any idea ?

But, it might be something else. Without a better description of the problem you need to solve, it is hard to help. |

I'm really sorry if I didn't succeed in being clear enough, I try to do better. Although I'm must say that, yes, my first idea is that horrible one you describe much better than I did :
"to replace the title displayed in calibre with a file name" Because before I discovered Calibre, I was managing my e-books with my windows file manager and therefore, renamed my files in a way that they display correctly within the file manager. Now, I wish the name's file to be the same as the titles in calibre and in my reader. And this, specially with a série of books that are numbered from 1 to 36 that I'm keen to see sorted by the figure's name. But, why is it an horrible idea ? The names of folders and files in the library are determined algorithmically, the fact that they are Anglo-ised and ASCII-ised is arbitrary.
See ==>> Want to change folder structure or file names in the Calibre library? Try creating a book with Title 披绿马甲、干黑勾当:伪环保假生态现象调查 and with Authors 励婕 and see what you get in the folder and file names. BR |
