Screen replacement for HD3 post-brexit

When my Kobo mini died I bought a PocketBook HD3 as the nearest (but better) replacement to carry in a pocket I could find. Unfortunately it wasn't - I sat down with it in a jeans pocket and the bending was more than the screen could take. So, I have a half-dead screen, but as far as I can tell everything else works.

It's out of warranty. I couldn't find a matching replacement screen on line to have a go at replacing it so I went through the Polish repair company. Cost was only slightly less than the cost of a new replacement, but I'd rather avoid the waste. When I got round to sending it, it was just after Brexit - the first time, the courier just brought it back 'unable to deliver' (it had never left the UK). The second attempt, it came back with the customs paperwork removed and a note 'no customs paperwork attached'.

So I have given up on getting it to Poland (I suspect that there would also be a lot of unexpected customs fees attached even if I could). Back to trying to find a screen replacement.

So: does anyone here know of a replacement screen for a Touch HD3 I can buy online?

And has anyone managed to replace the screen? (I'm hoping it will be easy, but have never only done this on laptops before).

Buy a new one.
I opened several HD3 devices and came to the conclusion:
for me the chance that a screen replacement will be successful is around 30% max.
In most of the cases the new screen will break during the procedure.

Just open the device and have a look inside. Little plastic clips which are not build to reuse keep the screen in place. And all the glue to keep it waterproof on the flexcable clips. Not worth the effort! The pre HD3 reader generation was much easier to repair.
Btw. on Youtube there are some Russian videos showing the repair procedure.

Two Readers kept in pockets. Two Readers broken. This is why I say not to keep any Reader in a pocket as it's easy to break as you've found out. For your next Reader, buy a Kobo Sage as it's too big for most pockets.

Or sew up your pants pockets to make them really small.

iMy Kobo mini didn't die because I carried it in a pocket, it broke because I damaged the usb connector then bodged the repair. And I already have a larger reader (Kobo Aura) - I just like to have something little I can carry around with me too.

Since a Kobo mini replacement is never likely to appear I may wait till a non-Chinese version of Xiaomi Inkpalm gets some support and go with that.

Unlikely I know but has anyone ever done a comparison of ebook readers in terms of repairability? I won't touch Pocketbook again if they are that hard to fix, I think in general repairability should be encouraged. (I do realise this is pulling in the opposite direction from wanting a small device - https://github.com/joeycastillo/The-Open-Book being the extreme case!)
