Hi all, I could not see any related threads that are recent, so I started this new one.
I am running latest Calibre to 5.22.1. It worked fine with my Kindle Paperwhite 2 (2013) until I upgraded the firmware to 5.12.2.1.1 (3720580001). The kindle comes up OK in Windows 10 but after the upgrade my kindle device is no longer detected by Calibre. I have no other devices connected and I am using the same cable that worked before the upgrade. I have checked Ignored Devices and Kindle PlugIn is enabled. Can't generate Debug info. Before reconnecting I blanked the Kindle then synched it with my Amazon account in order to eventually transfer the eBooks over to my Calibre Library. Amazon formats seem to be in either azw or azw3. Any thoughts would be appreciated ![]() |

I forgot to mention - if I add a book from my Existing Calibre Library to the Kindle it shows up OK

SOLVED
OK. I kept reading to find that my approach was wrong on this. Here is my fix: 1. Install Kindle Reader for PC 1.17.44183 and disable automatic upgrades 2. Open Kindle for PC and make sure Amazon does not upgrade it anyway. Otherwise re-install. 3. Open Kindle for PC and open books to download them 4. Make sure books are labelled as 0% otherwise open each book, go to end, go to cover then close 5. Make sure the KFX Input Plugin is installed in Calibre 6. Drag and drop each book from "My Documents\My Kindle Content" into Calibre window to import Hope this helps someone... |

I realise I've already posted about this, but can anyone recommend a reliable source for Kindle for PC 1.17?
I need it to work with Windows 7, which the latest update doesn't. |

After BookCat gets his question answered, could someone give me some advice on my MacBook Air 2020 (M1 chip) concerning the issue below:
1) What is the best version of Kindle for Mac that will facilitate sucessful DRM removal? 2) The best version of calibre to match with Kindle For Mac? 3) Please message me if information needs to be explicit. (I can still remove DRM on my very old Macbook Pro, but it's such a hassle to do that and then have to copy it over to my new MacBook Air.) Thanks in advance. Please don't ignore Bookcat's post above mine. ![]() |

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=283371 Calibre version doesn't matter anymore. Latest version of everything should work. |

I agree to go with the latest version of Calibre. A solution to the KindleForMAC problem is to buy a cheap Kindle that handles KF8 and just download your eBooks direct from Amazon. It's what I do since I inherited a PW3.

To the PC, but for that Kindle. Never direct to the Kindle. But I'm sure JS means that.
