The Field of...Ancient History! :D

Hi,

I've got some books that were written in the wayyyyyyyyyy distant past. Like, 400 BC!

I've made a custom field for my own "published" date. Is there any way to configure it so it could handle dates that occur in the ancient past BC?

No, dates in calibre bottom out at 100AD

Start out with the MANDATORY HUGE THANK YOU for making this software!!! For reals! When I see all the little subtleties like this:

Lookit how the field to the right turns red when you edit it. Meaning...you've got to click the arrow to update.

Diabolically intuitive and clever.

But, then. THEN! Look at the color VALUES for the green and red!!! They are PASTEL colors. So, really! I don't know how you do it. It's just SO EASY to use. And so human focused. Thus, the many thanks.

Ah! Understand about the 100AD. Encourage you to give that a tweak if you can. A custom field? Hate to leave out our good reads from the era of BC!

Sadly for technical reasons the limit cant be lifted but you can indeed use a custom field to store dates earlier than that, just make it a plain text field not a date field, or an integer field if you need to sort by it.

Ah! That's SMART! But, I can't follow how to execute the entries themselves.

If a book was written in 400 BC...what would work if I used an integer field? [DEFINITELY WANT TO SORT BY IT]

?

BC 400

?

How would you format the values for the years when the book was a BC book, so that it would sort correctly along with all the AD books (and atop these AD books, too)?
