Kindle / Mac - Error communicating with device

The first time I connected the Kindle, I believe there was a message in Calibre asking if I wanted to allow the connection to the Kindle. I accidentally clicked "No" on that message (or something similar). Now, when I connect the Kindle, I get the "Error communicating with device" message.

Is there a way to reset this?

I have tried resetting the Kindle to factory settings.

Error details:
calibre, version 5.9.0
