Clean up Calibre tags on Kobo Clara HD

I have a library with about 2,000 epubs organized with roughly 15 bookshelves and an additional 20 tags. I'm putting these files on my Kobo Clara HD and access them with KoReader.

When I use Calibre's "update cached metadata on device" and use KoReader to search by Calibre metadata and browse tags, I see thousands of tags except my own tags and bookshelves. Some of the additional tags read for instance (1), 181, history, etc. and seem to be the tags embedded in the epubs themselves.

With the Calibre's "configure this device", how can make only my own tags visible in KoReader?

As I just stated in response to another of your posts, calibre has no code specific to KOReader. When you send the books to the device, the metadata in them is updated. And calibre updates the "metadata.calibre" with the metadata for all books it can see on the device. My understanding is that KOReader can read this for searching for books. Or it is reading the metadata from the books. Anything KOReader finds, will be in metadata the calibre library.

If KOReader is showing something else, you need to talk to the KOReader developer to find out where it is coming from and then working out why it is there.
