stop auto-refresh after edit metadata?
I've been using Calibre for a long time and rely on the feature when running from Portable that a refresh of the current search is NOT done after you do Edit Metadata on all or a few of the displayed titles. This lets me remove a tag (used just to track books I've gotten ready to move to a different database), run the Pretty command, then save the lot to disk, then move them to the second Library.
Portable, tho, is atrociously slow in displaying books (3.48, due to Win7 on some systems). So, I installed 64b calibre locally, which fixed the speed problem. I think I've gotten most of the settings back where I want them, as far as looks, reproducing my saved metadata macros, etc, but when I grab the list of books displayed (tags:"xxx" for example), remove the tag "xxx", the view refreshes and I lose all the books I was working on. Is there a setting that will suppress that auto-refresh after editing multiple metadata (or running Polish) on all or a subset of what is currently displayed? On a somewhat related note, is there an easy way to copy the sharing by settings from the Portable over to the 64bit version, so I don't have to screen shot and copy one by one? Settings ARE NOT CPU bit/OS sensitive.
32 vs 64 is mostly about how complex a book that can be converted before Memory limits are hit (32 is way less). |

You can edit the items individually and it won't auto-refresh, but that takes time.
My solution: When adding books/fixing metadata on older ones, I add the @cleanup tag to them. (I have a virtual library set to display books with that tag, though that's not necessary.) I remove the tag when I'm finished everything else. |

All worked in many versions over the years, still works in the Portable 3.48 on the USB stick (been upgraded many times). However, when I installed x64 v3.48, it does not use the settings from Portable (obviously), so yes, there is a 32 vs 64 bit difference, but it has nothing to do with the problem. If I had been using 32 bit on the local hard drive, I suspect the 64 bit version would have pulled up the settings I've been using. The problem is I have forgotten what I had to do (if anything), to convince the portable version to work, as above. Because it was many years ago. I've pulled up all the settings I can remember to access, and can't figure out which one tells it to NOT refresh the search after a Bulk Metadata edit. If I could just get this ONE thing fixed, I can live with having to re-enter all my email settings and bulk edit macros, even if it is a pain. Does anyone know where that setting is? I think it's at the bottom of the bulk metadata edit dialog.
