I'm a longtime Calibre user. I recently make a mistake and I need help it getting Calibre organized as it was.
I use Win10 with Dropbox. I keep my Calibre with Dropbox sectioned by Calibre Library, Calibre Non-fiction, Calibre Cookbooks. Having my library organized is helpful. I somehow lost the section called Calibre Cookbooks. The ebooks are in Calibre but no longer identified as Cookbooks. They have no identification. So I need to organize the one with no identifications as Cookbooks . I do keep my Calibre program in two computers so when I travel I can make changes. So I am home with a complete dropbox and my laptop had all my ebooks but cookbooks are not identified. My head is spinning and need help to organize the books. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm still having trouble joining some of my ebooks. I use dropbox. And I noticed this morning something was wrong. I keep my ebooks in four areas Calibre\Library & Non-fiction and Cookbooks. I keep dropbox in my Win 10 laptop and PC. PC cookbooks are correct. Pub all my dropbox in my laptop Cookbook are basically gone.
Does anyone know how I can move my Cookbooks (about 1,000) from PC to laptop. I appreciate and help. Barbara No Ca |

Calibre + Dropbox is not a good idea.
What happens when you go to Library > Library maintenance > Check library? |

Thanks for the tip about not using Dropbox. I'm going to delete my current Calibre, contents and program and then start over with a new download of Calibre, new books and run it on my laptop. I'm not technical enough to fix my Calibre.
If I want to sync my Calibre on my laptop and PC any ideas on what would work? Thanks. I did go to Library>Library maintenance>Check library and a few errors came up. |

3 things
1. dropbox is absolutely fine for storing COPIES of your library. just have a local PC (desktop or laptop) as the master copy 2. to replace stuff in dropbox, you add it to the local dropbox folder on your PC and leave dropbox to manage the upload and sync - that is the ONLY reliable method. you should not use upload via browser to dropbox.com as that messes up the calibre subfolders 3. anything deleted in dropbox is actually still there in a deleted files area for 30 days. so if you lost a folder, go to dropbox.com -> login -> deleted files, and undelete it |
