Kindle export to calibre problem

Hi, I am new here so apologies if I am out of order just posting like this. Have to admit I would have been here yonks ago if I had known about it!

Anyway, have recently bought a new laptop, set up Calibre on it as usual along with the Kindle app. The problem is I am having trouble exporting my Kindle books into Calibre.

This is a snapshot of my Kindle file on my new computer

This is how a single file opens up

If I upload the kindle content and metadata to my Calibre then try to open them, they both redirect back to the original file on my laptop.

The content in the kindle app is fine.

The same books upload to Calibre absolutely fine still on my old laptop, which may pop it's clogs at any moment!

I really hope someone can help me here.

The book you show is in KFX format. It can be tricky to get that working properly.

You may have an easier time if you either use an older version of Kindle for PC that predates KFX or disable KFX in a later version of that software. See the thread Dealing with Kindle for PC/Mac 1.19 (and later) and KFX in calibre for details.

Thank you so much, I was worried I might have to put my Kindle on air and might just lose a few books that way!
