Kobo Hd Glo page stuck

Screen has frozen on a page of text I was reading on my Kobo HD Glo.
Tried hard reset, tried pin reset, tried plugging it into the PC. The screen stays stuck. Only one thing changes when I try the pin reset, the screen light comes back on.

Screen looks fine, no damage.

Any ideas what else I can try to get this working again?

I managed to get the back off but not sure how to disconnect the battery - does the white pin lift up or slide back? Scared of breaking it.

Well I managed to get the battery disconnected without breaking anything but page is still stuck. Took SD card out and tried it in Pc but unreadable, wants to format.
Don't know what else to try.

Did you try the Kobo Glo HD factory reset procedure? See Manual factory reset your Kobo Glo HD for the steps needed. The square blocks are circular dots in later firmware.

If that doesn't work and you don't even see the startup, ask about obtaining an image of the firmware in the Need Kobo Glo HD SD Image thread.

Considering the uSD card has multiple Linux ext4 filesystem partitions, Windows doesn't know what to do with it.

Thanks for replying.
Is it possible that corruption on the SD is keeping the page stuck?
And do you know of any way to read the SD from the Kobo on my PC?

Yes, it's possible that a corrupted uSD card can cause issues.

You can create an image of the uSD card using Virtual Console's Flash Drive Image Creator and write an image back using Flash Drive Image Writer. Available from Virtual Console Downloads. To see the partitions on the uSD card, I use MiniTool Partition Wizard Free 12.

Thanks. I think only solution left is to try and get fresh firmware on the SD but that thread for an image is closed.

Strange but after trying to reset it multiple times, now when I use the pin reset the red light around the on/off button at the top never goes off unless I press it again. Light no longer coming on. Still stuck on page. Awaiting sd image as a last hope.

Got the Image onto another SD but same problem. Pressed reset pin and button at top goes red then screen lights up but still the same image of the last page I was reading is stuck there. Screen shows no sign of damage.

**It won't connect to my pc either. Just flashes up as removable with a blue question mark and vanishes. So can't get at it that way either.

**If I hold down the top button, it turns red then the screen lights up after a few seconds on the stuck page and stays that way. If I use the pin to reset then, it will flash the top button red and the screen goes dark and then after a while lights up again on the stuck page as thougn it has restarted.

**pin reset does nothing if I hold button down at top until the screen goes dark.

Anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Did you read my response in one of the other places that you have asked this question:

What is actually on the screen? It sounds like the frontlight is turning on and off ("screen goes dark"). And the rest sounds like the device might actually be starting. That suggests the screen is broken and everything else is working.

Hi David, Im sorry if I repeated common question, but I have a problem with my Kobo Aura. They are consistently restoring, even I try to sync with Kobo Desktop. Maybe I missed this community conversation, Im sorry, but can you help me?

By the way I bought used Kobo Aura, actually there is problem with the screen (touchscreen doesn't work on the top side of screen), since I couldnt go back I accidentally reset, and there it goes forever restoring.

Please help, thank a lot really appreciate your help David

Thanks for the reply. I agree it seems as if the screen may be broken but it's in perfect condition, not a mark on it. The screen started going dark and freezing after I installed a custom language dictionary and was using it regularly, perhaps that has something to do with it.
