Merge duplicates
My library contains duplicates in of various types (pdf, mobi, epub)
Book.pdf, Book.mobi and Book.epub are 3 entries in my list. Is it possible to automatically group the various types into one folder/group? Still maintaining all formats but just one title when searching and organizing? Thanks for any help. |

You can then Merge these into a single record (A record can contain 1@ of every format possible) |

Thanks for your helpful reply.
I have now deleted the exact duplicates and have a list of books with the same titles but different formats (epub, pdf, mobi) How can I group/merge them into one entry. The only method I know is copy the duplicate to the desktop. Select the other entry. Press shift+A and select the duplicate(s) from the desktop. It works; but considering the vast amount of options in Calibre it's my guess there is a quicker method. |

After "Find Duplicates" highlights your duplicates, click the small arrow on the right of the "Edit Metadata" button, then select "Merge Book Records".
NOTE: There are several options in "Find Duplicates" and "Merge Books". Experiment with one set of duplicate books to learn which options you prefer. |

Is it possible to let Calibre automaticaly group books during import?
Can the behavior of "Title sort" changed? Currently it changes "The best book ever written" into "best book ever written, The" I would like to switch that rearranging off for every book in my library. |

As for the title sort, there is a tweak for that (Preferences->Advanced-> Tweaks): 'title_series_sorting': http://manual.calibre-ebook.com/customize.html#tweaks |

title_series_sorting = 'strictly_alphabetic'
That command seems to do the trick when adding new books. The title sort field of the already present books is red indicating the field isn't correct (The has moved). It can be corrected bu pressing the arrow. Is it also possible that Callibre applies the new rule automatically to the whole library? |

However, you can select all books (ctrl/a), then press 'e' to get into bulk metadata edit, where there's an option to update Title Sort. That will bring all books in line with the current rule BR Last edited by BetterRed; 02-04-2015 at 02:28 PM. |
