Upgradeh Kobo (new feature: language filter),Calibre sez Kobo DB version unsupported
Hi all.
Last night, as I was on my Kobo Forma, I got a prompt to upgrade (new feature: language filter). Well, today, my Forma is connected to my Calibre laptop, and Calibre is saying "Kobo database version unsupported".

Device database version: 160
Device firmware version is now 4.22.15190.
What should I do?
When will Calibre support this newer version?
Bonus question: When will geek1011 create new patches?

Follow the instructions in the error message to enable Attempt to support newer firmware. As for when calibre will support this? The next release likely this Friday.

As for new patches? They've been available for a couple of weeks. See the Instructions for patching firmware 4.22.15190 thread in the Kobo Developer's forum which was started on 2020-Jun-23.

You might also want to check the Firmware 4.22.15190 thread and pay special attention to message #7.

And remember that search is your good friend. Try Google with "4.22.15190" site:mobileread.com as an example.

Will "attempt newer firmware' cause a database corruption and require a factory reset? (gulp)

So far it hasn't. If it was going to be an issue, you would likely find warnings in the thread about the firmware release as soon as it released and the beta testers' NDA was no longer in effect for that version.

Non-disclosure agreement. Pretty standard item for most pre-release test programs whether hardware, software or firmware.
