Start error

I can't start calibre without this message. If I disable the virus scanner (windows defender)everything functions normally. I reinstalled Calibre, but no improvement.

Where is your library located - i.e in which directory?

Added: And which version/edition of Windows, running calibre 4.14 on Windows 1909 with Defender is fine here, but there's a lot of tweaking one can do in Defender

You should be able to have defender ignore the calibre program. Then that won't pop up.

If I try to find the library, using Calibre, the program shuts dwon. If I try to change libraries, the program shuts down!

Calibre library is in Focumenten. (Not on C:/ because I don't want write on the SSD)

I tried and it works. I installed a clean version of Calibre on another PC (Windows 10 64 bits) and got the same trouble with the virus scanner. Where will the solution come from for this conflict? From MS or from Calibre ?

Have you relocated your user Documanten folder to F:Documenten, as I have, but to D: viz:



If you have, then I suspect you are running up against the Windows Protected Folder feature, its a ransomware protection racket feature. There are two ways to fix it a) exclude the library folder from Windows Protected folders, or b) move your calibre libraries out of the Documenten folder. I favour the latter.

Create a Folder on the F: drive called Calibre, within it create another folder called Libraries, then move your calibre library(ies) into F:\Calibre\Libraries. Start calibre and use library icon->Switch/create... to 'hook' the library(ies) in the new location.

Hopefully that should work.

It works !! On both PC's. I don't know "who"or when this folder protection was enabled. But who cares, it works. Thx.

It was in an update awhile ago from Uncle Microsoft. They "knew" better than us and it has caused a lot of problems for people.
