No Starch Press "Humble Bundle"
If you're interested in Python programming (I'm trying to learn it, but probably never will) you've probably heard of Python Crash Course by Eric Matthes. My local library got it in and I borrowed it but I decided I wanted to buy it. The eBook is $24 at Amazon, Kobo, B&N, Ebooks.com, Books A Million, etc. So I thought I'd check No Starch Press directly and there I found this "Humble Bundle."
https://www.humblebundle.com/books/d...n=tile_index_8 12...Err... 15 books (one sampler) for $15. (You can pay more if you can afford it.) So, very cheap, but what's really good about it is that it's all DRM free and comes in ePub, Mobi and PDF. It was well worth it for the one book for me (though I will check out the other Python books and the SQL one) also. This bundle has a little over five days left. But there's also an O'Rielly Classics bundle. Same deal. DRM-free, all three formats, etc. The first four five are a minimum of $1, eight ten books a minimum of $8 and 12 14 books, a minimum of $15. (The No Starch bundle was the same, the book I wanted was in the last batch.) https://www.humblebundle.com/books/o...n=tile_index_6 At any rate, a good deal if you need any of these books. You would think a "bundle" like this would push the older editions, but Python Crash Course is the new one (published in May of this year). At any rate, for what it's worth. EDIT: Looking a little closer at the O'Rielly Classics bundle, it's actually fourteen books. Five in the first group, five in the second and four in the third. Corrected above. EDIT 2: I guess I can't count. The No Starch Press bundle has fifteen books (14 if you don't count the sampler) NOT 12. Corrected above. Last edited by rcentros; 12-18-2019 at 09:45 AM. |

Thank you, it's very interesting for me (not only Python but R and so on...). And O'Reilly with my old love: vim.

One book in the No Starch Press bundle is available to read online for free at the Learn You A Haskell for Great Good! website. Haskell is a functional programming language, which led to the odd grammar in the title. If you're used to procedural languages like C or Pascal and object-oriented languages like Java or Lisp it's kind of a twisty way of thinking, but it can be very powerful.
Another free-to-read Haskell book is Real World Haskell, published by O'Reilly, but not part of the current Humble Bundle. While I'm listing free-to-read programming language books, there is a semi-related book also available online (but not part of the Humble Bundles) Learn You Some Erlang for great good! about Erlang - another functional language. Another book in the No Starch Press bundle - The Book of F# - is Microsoft's take at a functional language. Quote:
