Problem with char encoding
Hello,
I can add a book fine with non ascii characters fine. But, I cannot enter any non ascii characters in the medatada edit window. Why is so? How can I correct it for editing metadata? Thank you. |

You can enter non-ascii characters in the metadata window.

Sorry Kovid, but not possible to enter any non-ascii chars on metadata window. Title, Author, even the comments window don't accept any non-ascii. It seems to me that it is not utf-8 within metadata window. In addition, I can not enter any non-ascii on main window when editing a title. Perhaps, it is a misconfiguration on my side.
Also, when adding new books, calibre warns us if there are duplicates. If I press "copy to clipboard" and paste it to an external word processor, the non-ascii chars don't exist. By the way, my version is 4.5. Thank you. |

Works fine for me, Windows 10 with International Keyboard. In the screen capture all characters were typed.

I installed Calibre on my Ubuntu PC. It works with non-ascii characters.
Obviously, this is an issue with linuxserver/calibre docker. |

Seeing that Kovid develops calibre in a Linux environment it may not be so obvious. I'm sure he will look closer and get back to you, but this may be an issue with your install. Did you install via the Binary install instructions on the calibre download page?
